We are proud to announce a partnership agreement between Positive Initiatives LLP and Armani Hair Studio located in Toronto.
As a non profit organization we are always seeking to create and build programs that better serve and empower BIPOC children/youth living in many of the inner city communities within the GTA, and seeking strategic partnerships with local businesses & non profit organizations has always been a essential part of that undertaking.
Youth Braiding Academy in Toronto teaches youth the historic trade of hair heading along with business and entrepreneurial skills. The after school program keeps children and youth off the street and into a ties them into engaging social environment with other youth as they continue to work productively toward completing the program and gaining a life long skill.
WHO ARE WE?
The Youth Braiding Academy offers a unique program designed to enrich the lives of youth between the ages of 11-18 by providing them with hair braiding skills and entrepreneurship training. Our engaging and interactive program is suitable for a wide range of settings, including public and private schools, home school environments, churches, parks and recreation areas, and government agencies. Our program is flexible and can be scheduled during or after school hours, as well as during spring and summer breaks.
Our program aims to inspire young people to pursue their passion for hair braiding and turn it into a profitable business venture. We believe that anyone who can braid has the potential to start their own successful business, and we are dedicated to helping youth achieve this goal. With our comprehensive training and hands-on approach, we equip young entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge they need to turn their passion into a thriving business.
Michele Bonnick
PROGRAM FACILITATOR
Michele Bonnick is truly an expert in her field and is widely regarded as one of Toronto’s most talented hairstylists, Markus Emanuel provides “I approached Michele with the Idea I had, after watching my daughter failed attempts in trying to braid her hair, I realized a after school and weekend program to teach not only the hair braiding trade but also the business component didn’t exist. After reading Michelle bio online I decided to reach out to her, I pitched the idea of creating the program for youth within priority neighborhood’s, and as busy as she was with clients coming in and out of the salon she was ecstatic about the undertaking and expressed an importance to give back and shared with me her own journey to self employment at a young age” Michele has 29 years experience in the field and is the owner and operator of Amani Hair Studio (formerly Atlanta Hair. Design)
